Pench National Park — straddling Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra on the southern border of the Satpura range — is the landscape that inspired Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book. Tigers, leopards, wild dogs (dhole), and over 285 bird species roam teak forests that Mowgli would recognise. Turia gate (MP side) and Sillari gate (MH side) offer jeep safaris; a cab from Nagpur (~90 km) is the most common access point.

About Pench Tiger Reserve
Named after the Pench River that bisects the park, this reserve was brought to global fame by BBC's Tiger: Spy in the Jungle and the Collarwali tigress (T-15) who raised 29 cubs — a world record. The MP side (Pench Tiger Reserve, Turia) handles most tourism; Maharashtra's Pench (Sillari/Karmajhiri gates) is quieter with separate booking.
Unlike Ranthambore's open ruins, Pench is dense teak-and-bamboo forest with riverine meadows — wildlife emerges at waterholes in the dry season.
