About Jagatpita Brahma Temple
According to legend, Lord Brahma chose Pushkar to perform a yagna after slaying the demon Vajranabha. When his wife Savitri failed to arrive on time, he married Gayatri — angering Savitri, who cursed that Brahma would be worshipped only in Pushkar. The present marble-and-stone temple dates largely to the 14th century (rebuilt in the 18th), with a distinctive red shikhara and hamsa (swan) mount of Brahma.
The inner sanctum holds a four-headed idol of Brahma with his consort Gayatri. The temple sits at the head of Pushkar Lake — pilgrims traditionally take a holy dip in the lake before Brahma darshan.
